Frequently asked questions

Everything we get asked about AI-generated fashion photography: model identity, virtual try-on, costs, quality and rights. Direct answers, sourced figures.

01How do I keep the same model across my whole catalogue?

Through locked identity. You create (or import) a model once, MannequinIA freezes their face, body shape and skin tone, then reuses that identity on every product photo. The result is a consistent catalogue where it is visibly the same person, with no shoot to book and no need to re-hire the same human model. You can build a small cast of recurring models and apply it across hundreds of SKUs.

02How much does an AI catalogue shoot cost?

A traditional studio shoot runs about $2,500–6,000 per day (model, photographer, studio, styling, retouching), i.e. ~$25–150 per delivered, retouched image. With MannequinIA, one 2K on-model photo = 1 credit. The Starter plan (€19/mo, 100 credits) works out to ~€0.19/image; Studio (€49/mo, 350 credits) to ~€0.14/image. You can try it first with 15 free credits (Découverte plan). The gap comes from removing the logistics: no blocked day, no reshoot.

03Can I do virtual try-on without a model photo?

Yes. Virtual try-on applies a garment — from a plain packshot or a flat-lay — onto an AI model, with no human model or photo session required. MannequinIA combines high-fidelity try-on with its locked-identity models: you dress the same model in your entire collection. Each try-on costs 1 credit.

04MannequinIA vs a studio shoot: when to choose which?

For a high-volume e-commerce catalogue, colour variants, frequent drops or visual A/B tests, AI is faster (minutes instead of weeks) and far cheaper (~€0.14–0.19/image vs $25–150). For a signature brand campaign, editorial coverage or very fine human art direction, a studio shoot still wins. Many brands do both: studio for hero shots, AI for catalogue volume.

05Are the photos cleared for commercial use?

Yes on paid plans: Starter, Studio, Brand, Scale and Agence include a commercial licence and remove the watermark, up to 4K. The free Découverte plan (15 credits) is for testing: 2K resolution, non-commercial use with a watermark. You keep control of your models and renders.

06What is a locked-identity model?

It is an AI model whose features are memorised and reproduced identically from one photo to the next: same face, same complexion, same body shape. It is what makes a catalogue believable — without it, each generation would produce a slightly different person. MannequinIA turns it into a reusable asset you apply across every scene and try-on.

07Can I place my products in varied scenes?

Yes. Scene mode generates backgrounds and moods (studio, outdoor, lifestyle, seasonal) around your model and garment, with ready-made presets. So in a single tool you combine scene + try-on + locked identity, without juggling several apps.

08Do I need technical skills or a GPU?

No. Everything runs in the browser, in the cloud. You upload a product visual, pick a model and a preset, then generate. No install, no graphics card, and no prompts to write if you use the presets. The priority queue (Studio plan and up) speeds up renders under load.

09What resolution and quality do the images have?

Standard 2K on all plans; up to 4K (watermark-free) from the Starter plan, ideal for print and product zoom. A 4K HD render costs 4 credits, a 4K upscale 6 credits. Quality is built on recent models (Nano Banana / Nano Banana Pro).

10Why choose an FR-native tool?

Most AI fashion photo tools are built in English and then translated: their interface, support and billing stay rough in French. MannequinIA is designed in French from the start (VAT, quotes, support, fashion-trade vocabulary) while staying bilingual FR/EN. Handy for French-speaking brands and e-commerce sellers.

11How long does one photo take?

A few seconds to a few minutes per image, depending on load and resolution. At catalogue scale, that turns a multi-week timeline (briefing, casting, shoot, retouching) into a session of a few hours. Batch generation (from the Studio plan) processes several SKUs at once.

12How do I start for free?

Create an account and the Découverte plan gives you 15 free credits (one-time) to generate your first models and try-ons in 2K. No card required to test. You move to a paid plan only when you want 4K, the commercial licence and the watermark removed.
